What will a moratorium on RV Parks and the Timber Shores resort achieve?

Contrary to the claims of the township board, this moratorium is not protecting public health, safety or welfare.

What it threatens in the township is very real economic damage.

  • It’s a chilling message to anyone considering investing in economic development in Leelanau Township.

  • This is an shocking act of disregard for public policy, legal process, and property rights.

  • If played out it will almost certainly result in an expensive lawsuit, which has a high probability costing Leelanau Township millions of dollars in damages.

  • By delaying the building of the resort it result in lost jobs, lost tax revenue and lost opportunity for local residents and businesses.

If you didn’t have the opportunity to attend the Leelanau Township Planning Commission hearing on the moratorium on April 8 here are some of the presentations by Timber Shores team leaders:

  • Project Manager Walter Johnson’s overview of Timber Shores.

  • Attorney Richard Edmonds presentation to the planning commission.
