Review Of RV Parks Survey Results
As part of its process to review the Leelanau Township ordinance for RV Parks in the commercial resort zoning district the planning commission ordered a public survey. While the Williams & Works compiler explained thoroughly in his cover memo that the survey is not statistically valid – which means that no inference can be made regarding the accurate representation of sentiments in the township and further stated that “the survey is intended to be an extension of public comment”– it is clear that opponents either do not understand these limitations or are willingly misrepresenting the results as statements of fact. Therefore a discussion of the relevance of these numbers and the structural problems of the survey may be useful in understanding inaccurate arguments touting the survey outcomes.
The Williams & Works memo regarding the preliminary survey results is available here.
